Chambers Scores 33, But Panther Women Fall

ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA -- Despite getting 33 points from Aaliyah Chambers, the Ellsworth CC women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a 79-61 decision to Rochester Community and Technical College on Monday night.  Chambers, a freshman from Kansas City, MO, came off the bench and played 33 minutes, making 12 field goals, a trio of 3-pointers and 6-of-8 free throws.

The hosts went ahead, 21-11, after one quarter and increased the margin to 16 points by halftime.  The Panthers poured in 25 points in the final period, but the Yellowjackets never let them back into the game.

Chambers was the lone ECC player to reach double-figures in scoring.  Victaeja Leavy added 9 points, 6 assists and 3 steals.  Halle Miller scored 8 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Autumn Shull also had 11 rebounds to go along with 4 blocks.  Both Miller and Shull have produced double-digit rebound totals in each of the first 3 games of the season.  The Panthers hurt themselves with 27 turnovers and 26 personal fouls.

Olivia Christianson nearly matched Chambers with her 32 points that led RCTC.  She also had a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Panthers have three home games the rest of the week, facing the Clarke JV on Wednesday and then squaring off against Oakton CC and the Grand View JV this weekend in the Dale Howard Classic at Dittmer Gym.
