Ellsworth Puts Five on All-Region Softball Teams

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth CC had 5 players named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference All-Region softball teams announced this week.  The Panthers getting the honors included a pair of repeat All-Region choices in Gintare Paskocimaite and Delaney Vetter.  Paskocimaite is a member of the 1st team for the 2nd straight year and Vetter was picked as a pitcher for the 2nd consecutive season, making the Honorable Mention list this year.  The other Panthers tabbed were Lauren Brennan, a 2nd teamer as an infielder, and Maggie Braniff and Nevaeh Dice, Honorable Mention choices as a catcher and utility player, respectively.

Paskocimaite, from Radviliskis, Lithuania, led the Panthers in virtually all offensive categories this season with a .487 batting average, 43 runs scored, 55 hits, 15 doubles, 6 triples, 11 homers, 42 RBIs, 115 total bases, a 1.018 slugging percentage and a .576 on-base percentage.  She actually started for 3 seasons, including the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign.

Brennan, a freshman from Clinton, Iowa, batted .371 while playing in 49 games.  She amassed 49 hits, 39 runs and 35 RBIs while slugging 8 homers.  Brennan also made 14 appearances as a pitcher, starting 5 times.

Braniff, from Tekemah, Nebraska, appeared in 41 games and hit .391 with 36 hits, 22 runs and 23 RBIs.  Her .509 on-base percentage was 3rd on the team.

Vetter won 8 games in her sophomore season and made 27 starts for the Panthers, completing 13 of them.  The right-hander struck out 161 batters in 123 innings pitched.  Vetter, from Mayville, Wisconsin, had 2 shutout victories.

Dice played both infield and outfield for the Panthers and posted a .354 batting average in 49 games.  She led the team in at-bats with 144 and had 51 hits that included 8 doubles and a pair of home runs.  Dice, from Topeka, Kansas, also knocked in 31 runs.
