ESTHERVILLE, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC offense was shut down in a weekend series at Iowa Lakes CC as the Lakers' pitching held ECC to a total of 4 runs in the 4 games, Iowa Lakes winning 8-0 and 9-1 Saturday and 6-3 and 18-0 Sunday.

The weekend got off to a rough start as the Panthers were no-hit in the opening game by Iowa Lakes' Eliya Johnson.  Delaney Vetter took the loss in the circle with 6 ECC errors leading to 4 unearned runs.

Lauren Brennan's home run kept the Panthers from being shut out in game two.  Brennan had 2 hits and Nevaeh Dice and Maggie Braniff 1 each.  Cheyanne Collins was the starting pitcher and absorbed the loss with Asa Kesinger getting the final 4 outs.

In Sunday's first game, Ellsworth had 5 singles, two of them by Brennan and 1 apiece for Breanna Howard, Dice and Braniff.  Howard knocked in 2 runs.  Vetter and Kesinger combined to go 6 innings, the first 5 by Vetter.  All 3 of the ECC runs scored in the 7th inning.

Iowa Lakes then finished off the Panthers in the final game when they scored 11 of their 18 runs in the 3rd inning.  ECC managed 6 hits including a pair of doubles by Grace Gordon and 2 singles by Dice.  Lili Ruiz and Braniff also had hits.  ECC used Jocelyn Hartley, Collins and Brennan in the circle.

Ellsworth now faces a busy week with 5 doubleheaders in a 6-day span.  It starts with a twinbill at the University of Dubuque JV on Tuesday.
