ECC Men's Basketball Earns NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Honor; Six Players Also Honored for Academics

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- With a team grade point average of 3.22, the Ellsworth Community College men's basketball team was named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.  And 6 Panther men's basketball players earned spots on one of the three All-Academic Teams for their work in the classroom.  Players on the 1st team had GPAs of 4.0, those on the 2nd team had GPAs of 3.8 to 3.99, and 3rd team members were those with GPAs between 3.6 and 3.79.

Freshmen Sharon Bason, Tarik Islamovic and Guido Klompenmaker are the ECC players with a 4.0 grade point average and made the 1st team.   

On the 2nd team are freshmen Clavance Alvares  and Jordan Glenn-Hawkins.  Freshman Bruce Gibbs is on the 3rd Team.

The men's basketball squad's 3.22 GPA was the 18th-highest in the nation in the NJCAA.

Ellsworth Community College saw its baseball, men's basketball, softball, volleyball and women's wrestling teams all named Academic Teams of the Year and 37 ECC student-athletes made one of the NJCAA All-Academic Teams.
