IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Fourteen Ellsworth CC men's basketball players were named to the Spring 2023 Academic All-Region teams announced by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.  The academic honor lists are made up of the 1st team of student-athletes with grade point averages of 3.5 and above, and the 2nd team of individuals with GPAs between 3.0 and 3.49.  A student-athlete's highest GPA was recognized, either their cumulative GPA or their spring semester only GPA. 

The Ellsworth basketball players who earned 1st team recognition are Bruce Gibbs, Chimobi Ikegwuruka, Clavance Alvares, Clayton Ubben, Guido Klompenmaker, Hemed Khalifa, Jordan Glenn-Hawkins, Sharon Bason and Tarik Islamovic.  On the 2nd team are Cameron Liggins, Ezekiel Thompkins, Kotaro Nakagawa, Mateo Martinez and Rich Ashu.

Of those awarded Spring academic honors, ten were repeat selections from the 2022 Fall Academic All-Region teams.  They are Gibbs, Alvares, Klompenmaker, Khalifa, Glenn-Hawkins, Bason, Islamovic, Thompkins, Martinez and Ashu.

ECC had a total of 101 student-athletes on the Spring Academic All-Region teams from 8 different squads.
