IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth Community College men's basketball freshman guard Shawn Fulcher has been named Third-Team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

This season, Fulcher led the Panthers in scoring averaging 16.8 points per game and his scoring average was 18.2 in conference games. "I am proud of Shawn and his accomplishments on the floor this season. He was statistically one of the best players in multiple categories and proved to be the best true freshman in the ICCAC and one of the best in the country," said ECC head men's basketball coach Bryan Bender.  "His individual performances were special and a big reason why we were able to win 22 games this year.  There is still a lot of growth to be had for Shawn throughout his life, but coming to Ellsworth Community College proved to be a great decision for him and I am happy to be a part of his journey as a young man andcollege basketball player."

Fulcher is the first ECC men's player named to an NJCAA All-American team since Malcolm Canada was a third-team selection in 2013.  Fulcher is the 19th Ellsworth player to earn All-American distinction.
