Panthers Put Clamps on Southwestern

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Shawn Fulcher, making his first start of the season, pumped in 25 points to lead the Ellsworth Panthers to a 79-56 victory over Southwestern CC in ICCAC hoops action at Dittmer Gym Wednsday night.  Fulcher had provided a big spark off the bench in ECC's first 13 games of the season and responded to his starting role with a season-best point total and also had 4 steals to lead the Panthers to their 12th win against only 2 losses.

The Ellsworth defense held the Spartans to 28 points in each half and the 56 total points were the second-fewest allowed by ECC this year.  The Panthers had only 10 turnovers, a season-low total.  They shot 45 percent from the field and connected on 16-of-19 free throws.

Jordan Glenn-Hawkins scored 13 points, Issakha Niang had 11 and blocked 4 shots, and Ezekiel Thompkins added 10 points.  Rich Ashu led with 8 rebounds.

The Panthers take their 12-2 record to Fort Dodge on Saturday to wrap up the first half of the season with an afternoon game against Iowa Central.
