Kirkwood Throttles ECC Offense

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC offense was completely shut down by the pitching of Kirkwood CC in a 3-game series over the weekend.  The Panthers managed only 1 run and 11 hits in the series as Kirkwood prevailed 10-0 and 20-0 on Saturday and 17-1 on Sunday.

The Panthers were limited to a double by Luke Saxton and a single by Sergio Natera in the Saturday opener as Kirkwood used a pair of 5-run innings, the 2nd and 4th, to grab the victory.  ECC starter Derihan Suero was knocked out in the 4th inning and Hadniel Payamps finished up.

KCC scored at least 2 runs in every inning in the nightcap as it completed the sweep.  Again, Ellsworth was held to 2 hits, a double from Dariel Colon and a single by Saxton.  George Hansen, the first of 4 Panther pitchers, took the loss.  He was followed to the mound by Evan Becker, Kaden Stewart and Dane Littell.

ECC scored their only run of the weekend in the top of the 1st inning of the 3rd game when Daviel Camacho knocked in Tanner Short.  Camacho had 2 of his team's 7 hits.  Ellsworth used 6 pitchers -- Jaden Morris, Jake English, Memphis Moore, Logan Fragomeni, Will Johnson and Kenyon Santos -- and Morris took the loss.

The Panthers have 5 home games left on the regular season schedule, starting with a doubleheader against Southeastern CC on Wednesday.
