It was a big week for the Ellsworth Community College Panthers Baseball team as they climbed up the conference standings to a 12-6 record. Jose Valentin's huge numbers can be attributed to the Panthers successful week. Starting off, the Panthers won all of their games against Northeast and Marshalltown. During those two contests, Valentin homered eight times, including two games where he had three home runs – one against Northeast and one against Marshalltown. All in all, Valentin had a batting average of .706 going 12 for 17 with 8 home runs, 19 RBIs, and 10 runs scored. Naturally, these impressive numbers helped Valentin work his way up the stats chart. Valentin is now in the top 10 in hits with 48, doubles with 14, home runs with 10, RBIs with 37, batting average with .432, on-base percentage with .519, and slugging with .847.
