NIACC Comes Back to Down ECC

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth baseball team was unable to hold onto a 3-run lead and saw NIACC come back for a 12-7 victory at Cadet Field on Wednesday.

The Panthers were on top 7-4 thanks to a 6-run 5th inning, but NIACC, which had split a pair of low-scoring games with Ellsworth last week in Mason City, tallied the final 8 runs to take home the win.  Five of those runs came in the 6th inning to give the Trojans a 9-7 advantage.

Isaac Boley had the only multi-hit game for ECC, going 2-for-4 and he scored a run.  The Panthers got doubles from Javier Melendez and Jose Valentine.

Derihan Suero started on the mound and took the loss.  He was knocked out after 5 1/3 innings.  Colton Sanders, Edwin De Los Santos and Simon Victoriano followed Suero to the hill.  Ellsworth didn't give the hurlers much support, committing 5 errors.

The regular season comes to a close this weekend when the Panthers play Iowa Western in a 3-game series at home.  A doubleheader Saturday will be followed by a single game Sunday afternoon.
