DMACC Takes Rubber Game from Ellsworth

BOONE, IOWA -- Ellsworth couldn't hold onto a late lead and the DMACC Bears came back for an 8-7 win to take the ICCACC series from the Panthers over the weekend.  The Saturday one-run victory for DMACC followed an ECC 5-3 victory and an 18-8 DMACC blowout in Friday's twinbill.

The win for the Panthers in game one of the series was recorded by Elio Narvaez who threw 110 pitches in a solid, complete-game effort.  He permitted only 5 hits and 2 earned runs and struck out 6.  Ellsworth snagged a quick 3-0 advantage.  Bryce Hall scored on a throwing error, Daviel Camacho's RBI single brought in Zeb Wede and Tate Walker drew a bases-loaded walk to add another run.  Narvaez then helped himself by delivering a sacrifice fly in the 4th and JT Kostenbauer came home on a wild pitch in the 6th.

ECC actually led the second game, 6-5, after 3 1/2 innings, but the Bears put up 5 runs in the 4th and 4 more in both the 7th and 8th innings.  Jose Valentine blasted a 2-run homer in the 3rd for the Panthers and he added an RBI single in the 7th.  Hall delivered an RBI groundout, Kristian Crespo singled home a run and the Panther also got runs on a passed ball and a wild pitch.  Ellsworth used 4 pitchers -- Jason Moist, Ethan Whitham, Colton Sanders and Simon Victoriano -- and they combined to allow 20 hits, 8 walks and 18 runs.

Left-hander Cade Armstrong pitched 5 strong innings for the Panthers in Saturday's 9-inning game, which the Bears won in walk-off fashion.  DMACC battled back from a 6-3 deficit and tied the score at 7-all in the bottom of the 8th before getting the win the next inning.  Camacho had 2 of ECC's 7 hits and scored 3 of their 7 runs.  He also provided the only extra-base hit with a double.  Wede had a sacrifice fly and a run-scoring single, Narvaez also produced a sac fly and Kostenbauer walked with the bases loaded.  Armstrong gave up just 5 hits and 2 earned runs in his 5 innings.  He was followed by Jonathan Rosado and Edwin De Los Santos, who was tagged with the loss.
