Ellsworth Volleyball Falls at Riverland

AUSTIN, MINNESOTA -- The Ellsworth volleyball team went on the road Friday night and split the first two sets with Riverland CC before the hosts took the next two sets to take the match, 3-1.  The first couple of sets were close -- Riverland winning 25-21 and Ellsworth countering with a 25-23 decision.  The final two sets went to Riverland, 25-14 and 25-15.

The Panthers did record a season-high 86 digs and had five players with 12 or more, led by Jada Smith with 18.  Yanilette Diaz added 17 digs, Alondra Acevedo 13 and Nuria Bravo Santos and Faith Lobo 12 apiece.Ellsworth's previous season-best.  ECC had problems at the net, hitting a season-low .098.  Louise Lion led with 10 kills.  Bravo Santos was credited with 13 assists and Lobo with 10.  Diaz served 3 aces and Katie Winter had 3 blocks.

The defeat drops ECC to the .500 mark for the season (5-5).  They will take on the Wartburg JV at home on Monday night.
