ECC volleyball 1-2 for the week

Last week, Ellsworth Community College went 1-2, picking up a five-set victory at a Saturday tournament in West Burlington.

On Wednesday, the Panthers traveled to Northeast Community College for ICCAC action and fell in three sets: 25-7, 25-13 and 25-11.

ECC was led by Monique Vanzin with six kills and two blocks. Defensively, Kaitlyn Baer finished with seven digs and Vitoria Kazanovski added six.

The Panthers then traveled to the Southeastern Tournament and played two matches. ECC lost to Lake Lakeland: 25-13, 24-14 and 25-11. Next was Graceland University JV in which the Panthers dispatched in five sets for their second win of the season: 20-25, 25-20, 26-24, 24-26 and 16-14.

In the eight games played, Vanzin finished with 29 kills and Jojo Keahey added 17. Kazanovski led the team with 61 assists. Vanzin also was tops in digs with 18 while Baer added 17. And Keahey tallied eight blocks in the two matches.
