Ellsworth Women Suffer Tough Loss to DMACC

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Despite three players with 15 or more points and one of its best shooting games of the season, the ECC women's basketball team was edged by DMACC, 68-62, at Dittmer Gym on Saturday.

The Panthers led 18-13 after one quarter and were on top 30-29 at intermission, but DMACC took the lead in the 3rd period and held off ECC down the stretch.

Keara Williams had a tremendous all-around performance for Ellsworth, scoring 16 points, grabbing nine rebounds, dishing out six assists and making six steals, while drilling three 3-pointers.  Ellie Barrows matched Williams' 16 points and drained four 3s.  Autumn Shull posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards, five on the offensive end.  Halle Miller chipped in seven points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.

ECC outshot the visitors from the field, 40-36 percent in total field goals and 50-33 percent from 3-point range where the Panthers were 10-for-20.

Ellsworth will challenge Kirkwood CC, the nation's second-rated team, Wednesday evening.
