Panthers Stumble Against Iowa Lakes

Iowa Falls, Iowa -- A cold-shooting night -- especially in the second quarter -- doomed the Ellsworth CC women's basketball team as they fell to Iowa Lakes CC, 79-45, Wednesday night in the Dittmer Gymnasium.  The Panthers scored 15 points in the first period, but were held to just 16 total in the next two quarters.  For the game, they made 30 percent of their field goal tries, only 3-of-16 3-point attempts and 46 percent from the foul line.

Keara Williams put together a solid stat line for the Panthers with a team-leading 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.  She had two of the made threes for ECC.  Ellie Barrows made the other 3-pointer and contributed seven points.  Hydiyah Robinson pulled down a team-best six rebounds.

The Panthers, despite the cold shooting, played well in other areas.  They tied a season-low with 14 turnovers, collected 10 steals and blocked five shots.

Ellsworth travels to Creston to take on Southwestern CC Saturday afternoon for the first meeting of the season between the two ICCAC rivals.
