Late 3-Pointer Dooms Panthers

ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA -- Sophomore guard Ronnell Porter drilled a 3-pointer with just seconds to play allowing Dakota County Tech to grab an 82-79 victory Wednesday and earn a split in the season series with the visiting Elllsworth Panthers.  ECC had battled back from a double-digit deficit to finally tie the score at 79-all in the final minute, only to see Porter sink the game-winner for the Blue Knights.

Ellsworth lost despite shooting 57 percent from the floor and was credited with 29 assists on 32 made field goals.  They also nailed half of their 16 3-point attempts.  The Panthers, though, were limited to 26 rebounds and were only 7-of-15 from the foul line.

Richie Warren was the only Panther starter in double figures with his 17 points.  Two players off the bench -- Ra'mir Scott and Melvin Medina-Ortiz -- each scored 13 and Tom Stanley, Rich Ashu and Chase Smith all chipped in 8 points.  The leading rebounder was Srdan Kopunovic with 7.  Scott led with 8 assists and Jake Watson dished out 5.

The loss drops ECC to 12-7 for the season.  They return to league play at Northeast (Neb.) CC on Saturday.
