IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The ECC men used a balanced attack -- 6 men with at least 9 points -- to dispose of visiting Northeast (Neb.), 75-66, in an ICCAC contest at Dittmer Gym Wednesday night.
The Panthers put five players in double figures and had another one score 9 in posting their 11th win of the season. Ra'mir Scott led the scoring with 16 points. He drained 4 threes and dished out 5 assists. Pietro Vannini added 12 points, Junior Bodden 11 and Rich Ashu 10. The only starter not in double figures, Richie Warren, scored only 2 points, but tied for the team high in rebounds with 9 and he also had 5 assists. Ashu hit 5-of-6 shots, had 5 blocks and grabbed 6 rebounds, helping lead the Panthers to a 40-32 edge on the glass.
Ellsworth got solid production from a pair of reserves. Khedric Oliver pumped in 10 points, snared 9 rebounds and blocked two shots. Srdan Kopunovic made all three of his field goal attempts and all three of his free throws and chipped in 9 points. ECC had a season-best 10 blocks and led 34-29 at the half. The Panthers were credited with 20 assists on 31 made field goals and shot 52.5 percent from the floor.
Next up is a road game at Iowa Central Saturday afternoon followed by a home tilt with Marshalltown CC next Tuesday.
