Panther Men's Hoops Loses Ranked Battle to Iowa Western

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth was held to a season-low point total and dropped a matchup between nationally-ranked teams to Iowa Western, 70-56, Wednesday night at Dittmer Gym.

The No. 19 Panthers found themselves trailing, 29-17, at the half and made only 5-of-21 field goal tries in the opening 20 minutes.  They did get untracked on the offensive end in the final period, scoring 39 points, but they were never able to get the deficit under 10 points.  ECC had season-lows in shooting, making only 36.5 percent of their total attempts and just 15 percent from behind the arc.  Although they outrebounded the Reivers, 39-37, Ellsworth managed only 6 offensive boards and nobody had more than one offensive rebound.

Richie Warren and Ra'mir Scott topped the Ellsworth scoring with 16 and 12 points, respectively.  No other Panther had more than 6 points.  Warren also led ECC on the glass with 11 boards for his 5th double-double of the season.

The Panthers have their first conference road test on Friday night when they play at Southwestern CC.  Their next home tilt will be Dec. 8 against Northeast (Neb.).
