Panthers Bow to Hot-Shooting Lakers

ESTHERVILLE, IOWA -- It's on to the postseason for the Ellsworth CC men's basketball team after the Panthers concluded their regular-season schedule at Iowa Lakes on Saturday where they fell victim to a hot-shooting Lakers team.  ILCC made 67.8 percent of its field goal attempts, making 40-of-59 shots, in defeating the Panthers, 93-65.  The margin was only eight points at the halftime break, but Iowa Lakes put ECC away with a 54-point second half.

Adam Jackson was the Ellsworth scoring leader with his 27-point output, hitting 10-of-23 from the field.  Chase Smith tossed in a season-high 13 points and Josh Kamara added 10 to go along with five rebounds.  Off the bench, Jaren Kretzer contributed seven points -- draining all three of his field goal tries -- and Pietro Vannini handed out five assists and had three steals.  Ellsworth forced ILCC into 24 turnovers.

Now, the Panthers go into Region XI postseason play where they will face top-seeded DMACC Tuesday night in Boone in a quarterfinal matchup.
