ECC avenges early loss to Tigers

Ellsworth Community College played two games this week going 1-1.

The Panthers defeated rivals Marshalltown Community College 76-66 avenging an earlier season loss to the Tigers.

ECC knocked down 11 three-pointers in the game, with the majority coming from freshman Tony Eddy. Eddy was XX-XX from downtown in the game and finished with 35-points.

The Panthers built an 18-point advantage at the half, shooting nearly 46 percent from the floor. In the second half, MCC opened on a 12-0 run and got within single digits – but ECC held on for the win.

Along with Eddy, Josh Donaldson (17) and Joe Johnson (10) were in double figures scoring.

The Panthers hosted No. 5 DMACC on Saturday, Feb. 15 and lost 77-68.

ECC shot just 34 percent from the floor in the first half and trailed the Bears by 10 after 20 minutes. Things didn't get much better in the second, as they made just 13 field goals.

Four players finished in double figures, led by CJ Wright with 13 off the bench.
