Hall's Big Day Can't Stop Marshalltown

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Despite a huge game at the plate by sophomore outfielder Bryce Hall and a pair of home runs by Jose Valentine, the Ellsworth Panthers failed to contain Marshalltown CC in a 13-8 loss to the Tigers on Tuesday at Cadet Field.

Hall slammed two doubles, a triple and a homer and went 4-for-4 and his teammate, Valentine, went deep twice to pace the ECC offensive attack.  JT Kostenbauer also contributed 3 hits and Elio Narvaez and Javier Melendez each had a 2-hit game as the Panthers pounded out 15 hits.

MCC jumped on Ellsworth starting pitcher Gavin Busby and reliever Ethan Whitham early, building a 9-3 lead after 3 innings.  Ellsworth cut the deficit to 3 runs with a 2-run 6th, but was blanked after that.  Jonathan Rosado was the only one of ECC's 4 pitchers who didn't allow a run, throwing a scorless 9th inning.

Valentine has a team-leading 6 homers for the Panthers and Hall's round-tripper was his 2nd of the spring.  He is batting .340.

ECC will host Kirkwood at Cadet Field on Thursday and then plays at home against Southeastern CC this Saturday and Sunday.
