Two Narrow Defeats for Panther Baseball

NORFOLK, NEBRASKA -- Northeast (Neb.) CC used one big inning to erase an Ellsworth lead and they went on to knock off the Panthers twice on Tuesday, winning 8-7 in 8 inning and 8-6.

After Northeast scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning to take a 6-3 lead in the opener, ECC battled back to go ahead 7-6, scoring 2 runs in the 4th inning and one in both of the next 2 frames.  However, the Hawks tied the score at 7-all and then pushed across the game-winner in the 8th.  Elio Narvaez, Daviel Camacho, Jalen Aguiniga and JT Kostenbauer all had 2-hit games for the Panthers.  Camacho scored 2 runs and the RBIs were recorded by Bryce Hall, Narvaez, Zeb Wede, Camacho and Kostenbauer.  Jason Moist turned in a gutty performance on the mound for Ellsworth, going the distance in the extra-inning affair.

It was a 6-run 4th inning in the nightcap that allowed NCC to grab the advantage after the Panthers led 3-2 after 3 1/2.  Sergio Natera got 2 of ECC's hits and Nick Chasey and Alexis Ruiz scored 2 runs apiece.  The runs were driven in by Narvaez, Javier Melendez, Natera and Kostenbauer.  Starter Charlie Jaeger worked the first 3 2/3 innings for ECC.  Ethan Whitham and Colton Sanders combined for the final 2 1/3 shutout innings in relief.

After 24 straight road games to begin the schedule, the Panthers are at home for the first time this weekend when they welcome Iowa Central CC to Iowa Falls for doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday.
