Panther volleyball takes on big opponents

The tour of ranked opponents continued for Ellsworth Community College last week. The Panthers headed out on the road and played two road matches on back-to-back nights, both against top 15 opponents.

ECC started on Wednesday against rivals Iowa Central in Fort Dodge. The No. 14 Tritons earned the three set sweep: 25-13, 25-8 and 25-15.

The Panthers were led by Monique Vanzin with six kills and 11 digs. Jojo Keahey added four kills, one ace serve and eight digs. And Kaitlyn Baer tallied 12 passes in the loss.

ECC then traveled to Council Bluffs to take on No. 11 Iowa Western Community College. The Reivers also earned the three set sweep: 25-7, 25-11 and 25-13. Vanzin added six more kills to her season total. Vitoria Kazanovski led in assists (12) and digs (6). 

The Panthers are back in action on Wednesday night as they host eighth-ranked Kirkwood Community College in Martin Dittmer Gymnasium starting at 7:00 pm.
