Ellsworth Community College volleyball finished its season at the end of October and was awarded All-Conference and All-Region honors by the Iowa Community College Athletic Association (ICCAC).
Two members of the squad received All-Conference awards: Monique Vanzin and Vitoria Kazanovski, both graduates of Escola de Ensino Medio Mestre Santa Barbara in Bento Concalves, Brazil. Vanzin and Kazanovski received Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.
The Ellsworth Community College volleyball team wrapped the 2019 season at home on Wednesday, Oct. 30 with a loss to Iowa Lakes (25-19, 25-19, 26-24). The contest was Sophomore Night as the Panthers said goodbye to their lone sophomore ? Jojo Keahey. The South Hardin alum finished with six kills and 13 digs. Against the Lakers, ECC tallied 38 kills. They were led by Monique Vanzin with 18. She also tallied double digit digs with 10 and Kaitlyn Baer was second in hits (9) and digs (11). The Panthers wrapped the year with an 0-9 ICCAC mark and 5-27 overall, just outside of the Region XI Tournament.
Ellsworth Community College defeated Emmaus Bible College JV after starting the season with one of the toughest schedules in the country to start the season, facing four highly ranked opponents.
The tour of ranked opponents continued for Ellsworth Community College last week. The Panthers headed out on the road and played two road matches on back-to-back nights, both against top 15 opponents.
The Ellsworth Community College volleyball team opened the volleyball season on Wednesday, Aug. 28 with a three set loss to Dakota County Technical College (25-15, 25-11 and 25-16).
