ECC volleyball tallies 2nd win of the year vs. Marshalltown

The Ellsworth Community College volleyball team traveled to Marshalltown on Monday, Oct. 26, determined to take another win against MCC.

 

The Panthers came out strong with a 25-17 win in the first game. They kept it close in the next two, but MCC got the better of them with wins of 25-23 and 25-20. ECC wasn't giving up though … down two games to one the Panthers fought back and won the next two games 25-13 and 15-8.

"Winning against Marshalltown for the second time this year was huge for us after coming off a long losing streak," says ECC Head Volleyball Coach Ashley Clark. "It was a great win because it was a total team effort in which everyone contributed something to the win."

All of the Panthers had high stats for the night. Mary Goergen led the team with 15 kills, 12 digs, 2 aces and a block. April Jones had 10 kills, 9 digs, 2 aces and 5.5 blocks. Anna Smith had 16 assists, 22 digs and 2 aces. Carlin Whelpley had 25 digs and an ace. Paola Soto had 10 assists, 12 digs and 2 aces. Allison Kuennen hit .357 on 5 kills, with no errors and one ace.

The Panthers have one regular season game left on Wednesday, Oct. 28, when they travel to Iowa Central at 7 pm.
