ECC volleyball wins two more over the weekend

The Ellsworth Community College volleyball team continued its winning streak over the weekend, beating both Viterbo JV and Central JV. ECC beat Viterbo JV in three sets, 25-22, 25-16 and 25-17. They then turned around and beat Central JV in the next game in four sets, 25-17, 22-25, 26-24 and 25-9.

Stat leaders for the weekend included Mary Goergen with 21 kills and 2 blocks; Cristina Negron with 54 set assists, 13 kills, 5 blocks and 17 digs; Keisha Machado with 18 kills and 2 aces; Madison Grabau with 31 digs and 4 aces; Darayliz Santiago with 29 set assists and 16 digs; April Jones with 16 kills and 6 blocks; and Grace Oyola with 16 kills and 5 blocks.

"We played well this weekend," commented ECC Head Coach Melanie Suljic. "We are starting to click with some new things offensively and are able to spread the ball around to multiple threats. We're gaining confidence each day and are able to step outside of our comfort zone to grow as a team. If we continue to grow, we're going to be peaking at the right time."

The Panthers will travel to take on Marshalltown Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7 pm.
