Originally from Parkersburg, IA, Coach Spree is entering his sixth season with the Panthers. Prior to ECC, he spent a year at Minot State University in Minot, ND, and a year at Ellsworth Community College as an assistant wrestling coach. At Minot State, Coach Spree assisted with a team that produced 10 national qualifiers and ranked as high as #15 in the national poll in its first season back since 1990. Before that, Coach Spree helped assist the Ellsworth Panthers to a #15 finish in the 2010 national tournament, along with coaching two All-Americans.

Coach Spree graduated from Aplington- Parkersburg High School, where he was a three-time state place winner. He then enrolled at Ellsworth Community College, where he became an All-American and graduated with his associate degree. After Ellsworth, he transferred to Northwestern College, where he again qualified for nationals two more times, and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Coach Spree has his master’s degree in Business Management from Minot State University.
