The Ellsworth Community College wrestling team hosted its first meet of the year on Wednesday, Nov. 19, against Minnesota West. The Panthers won easily by a score of 45-3.
Matt Hurford (197) won his match by decision and three Panthers won with pins: Sam Andresen (165), Kane Springis (184) and Dalonte Holland (285). ECC had four wrestlers win by forfeit: Wesley Petrick (125), Brett Stevens (133), Isaac Rentas (149) and Marcus Graham (174).
"Overall it was a pretty good first performance in a dual meet setting," commented Head Wrestling Coach Cole Spree. "We lost one match that I feel we shouldn't have lost, but we showed signs of improvement overall as a team."
The Panthers will be back on the mat on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Lindenwood Open in St. Charles, MO.
