For the first time this year, Ellsworth Community College has lost two games in a row. After keeping the game with top-ranked Kirkwood Community College relatively close, the visitors were rocked by unranked DMACC.
Ellsworth Community College had a lead for two minutes against Kirkwood Community College, but could not sustain the advantage. Scoring slumps and turnovers led to a 71-45 final, with the Panthers suffering their first Iowa Community College Athletic Conference loss of the season.
While her teammates were struggling and were 0-13 from beyond the arc, Ellsworth Community College sophomore Laia Santanach hit seven baskets from downtown to help the Panthers to a 72-47 win in Estherville on Saturday.
Ellsworth Community College has been able to fly under the radar for much of the season, but one way to get noticed is to continuing to find ways to win.
