Panther Women Suffer Through Cold-Shooting Night, Lose to Grand View JV

DES MOINES, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC women made only 31 percent of their field goal tries and just 1-of-18 3-point attempts and couldn't overcome the cold shooting in a 62-55 loss to the Grand View JV Tuesday night.  It was the second loss to the Vikings in three days for ECC.  They were beaten by GVU, 73-70, in the Dale Howard Classic on Saturday.

The Panthers took a 15-11 lead after one quarter, but managed only four 2nd-quarter points and fell behind 30-19 at the half.  They fought back to outscore Grand View, 24-16, in the 3rd period to get to within, 46-43, with one quarter to play but couldn't come all the way back in the 4th quarter.

Aaliyah Chambers, the reigning ICCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, led the ECC scoring with 22 points.  Chambers hit only 6-of-22 shots from the floor, but made 10-of-11 free throws and snagged 9 rebounds and had 4 steals.  Autumn Shull contributed a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards.  Halle Miller picked off 11 rebounds and Hydiyah Robinson had 8. Katie Winter blocked 5 shots.

The Panthers will look to snap a five-game losing streak when they play at Riverland CC on Friday night.
