Two games left for the Panthers

Saturday in Creston, Ellsworth Community College led for three quarters of the contest.

Late in the fourth, Southwestern Community College came storming back to knock off the Panthers 59-46.

Early in the first quarter ECC went on an 8-0 run to lead 8-2. The visitors would stay on top through the opening period and lead by as many as 12. After 10 minutes, the Panthers led 19-9.

The Spartans opened the second quarter on a 6-1 run and were within seven at the break. SWCC continued to chip away at the lead to enter the fourth period with ECC on top by two.

To end the game, the Spartans went on a 17-5 run to take the game by 13.

Every Panther player got in the scoring column, led by Kevonda Primes with 14 and Ellie Barrows added 11.

ECC hosted No. 2 Kirkwood Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 19 and fell by a 95-38 count.

The Panthers really struggled with the size of the Eagles down low and were outrebounded by 22. The five tallest KCC players scored 70 of their 95 points.

Early on the two went shot for shot before the Eagles built a 45-16 edge at the half.

Barrows was the only player in double figures with 10.
