Panther women start the season strong

The Ellsworth Community College women's basketball team went into this past weekend with a 1-2 record and picked up two more wins during the Dale Howard basketball tournament.

The Panthers took on Harper College on Friday, Nov. 10, and came away with a big 91-41 win. ECC came out strong, outscoring Harper 29-10 in the first quarter and then never looked back. The Panthers then outscored Harper 30-9 in the second quarter.

ECC was led by Tayla Nulty and Emily Ferrier, who each had 18 points in the game. Alicia Limones was also in double figures with 12 points, Meredith Lincoln had 11, and Alyssa Wyman tallied 10. Ferrier and Limones each had 8 rebounds for the night, and Grace Tahahwah led the team in assists with 8. Lincoln and Wyman each had five steals in the win.

Saturday's game against Milwaukee Area Technical College was a closer for the Panthers, but they prevailed again with a 59-50 win.

Ferrier was again the leading scorer for the team with 22 points; she also had 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Nulty and Limones were in double figures for scoring, with 10 and 11 points respectively. Nulty also had 7 rebounds for the night and Limones had 6 rebounds along with leading the team in steals with 4. Lincoln had 6 rebounds for the Panthers and Wyman lead the team in assists with 4.

ECC will be on the road for the next six games starting with Wartburg JV on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2 pm.
