Panthers lose by one at home

The Ellsworth Community College women's basketball team hosted Southwestern Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in a game that came down to the very last possession.  

SWCC controlled much of the first half, up 11 points with 6 minutes remaining in the half. The Panthers came back with a 13-2 run to end the half at a 27 tie going into the break.

The second half remained close going into the final seconds of the game. With a one point lead, the Panthers were called for a foul with 2 seconds left. SWCC was able to make both free throws and come out with a 54-53 victory.  

Ellsworth was led by Chantelle Rumph and Keziah Lewis, who each contributed 12 points. Ashley Gates recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The Panthers will be at home for their next game on Saturday, Feb. 14, against Southeastern. Tip-off time is 1 pm.
