Panther women win big at home

The Ellsworth Community College Panthers hosted William Penn University JV on Wednesday, Feb. 4, and earned a decisive 85-52 victory.

Starting the game out aggressively, the Panthers built an early lead and never looked back. Going into the halftime break ECC was ahead 44-24, lead by Keziah Lewis with 19 points in the first half. The second half was no different as the Panthers continued to pull away.

ECC saw scoring from all nine players who suited for the game. Lewis led with 19 points, followed by Ashley Gates who added 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four other players each added 9 points: Chantelle Rumph, Anna Smith, Jordyn Lehman and April JonesMolly Greenfield added 8 points; Justice Thigpen had an all-around game with 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists; and Tijuana Weatherspoon finished with 5 points. ECC had just 9 turnovers in the game and recorded 16 steals, led by Rumph and Lehman with 4 steals each.

The Panthers will be on the road for their next game on Saturday, Feb. 7, when they travel to Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge for a 1 pm tip-off.
