The Ellsworth Community College Panthers hosted Iowa Lakes Community College Wednesday, Jan. 28, and came away with a 44-43 victory.
In a low scoring battle, Iowa Lakes held the lead at the half by a margin of 26-20. The second half was no different, with neither team able to pull away with a big lead. With both teams battling back and forth for the lead, Keziah Lewis grabbed an offensive rebound and put in a lay-up for the game's final field goal with one minute remaining on the clock. Neither team was able to score on their next possessions, then the Panthers secured the win with a steal by Jordyn Lehman with .6 seconds left.
Keziah Lewis and Molly Greenfield combined for 30 of the Panthers' 44 points. Lewis posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds; Greenfield added 15 points on 5 three-pointers and also added 3 steals. ECC played well on defense, holding Iowa Lakes to 29% shooting from beyond the arc and 33% shooting from the field overall.
The Panthers' next game will be on the road when they travel to DMACC on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 1 pm.
