Byrn and Kramer Co-Athletes of the Week

The 2018 Spring Softball season is underway and the Panthers have started off strong, going 3-1 in the opening weekend. The Iowa Community College Athletic Association (ICCAC) has recognized the contributions of ECC's Sydney Kramer and Cali Byrn with Athlete of the Week honors.

Kramer, a right handed sophomore pitcher from Donnellson, IA, went 1-1 last week. She appeared in all three games for the Panthers during their trip to Rochester, MN. She earned the win, shutting out Rochester in five innings while striking out an impressive nine batters. She also earned a save against Brant & Stratton College of Wisconsin, recording five strikeouts in only three innings.

Byrn, a sophomore first baseman for the Panthers and a native of Lawrence, KS, made a big impression at the plate this past weekend. Byrn has a starting season average of .400, reaching base nine times in only four games. In the win against Bryant & Stratton, she had a home run driving in three RBI's. She scored five times over the weekend and also had five HBP at bats this weekend.

The Panthers will be on the road this coming weekend with games Friday at Graceland, Saturday at Happy Rock Park vs MCC-Maple Woods, and Sunday at North Central Missouri College.
