The Ellsworth Community College softball team has signed Colfax-Mingo senior Amy Russell to play for the Panthers after high school. Russell is a versatile player who will be able to fill many roles on the Panther squad.
ECC Head Softball Coach Nate Forsyth says he is looking forward to seeing what Russell can do. "She will be a contributor on the bats as well as being able to pitch; she can play anywhere on the field."
As a junior Russell had an OBP of .574. She had 121 at bats with 63 hits. Out of those hits she tallied 17 doubles, 3 triples and 6 homeruns with 44 RBIs.
On the mound Russell is a force to be reckoned with. She had a 16-5 record in her junior year. Her walk-to-strikeout ratio was 34:119 and she averaged a strikeout per inning when she was pitching.
Russell was named 1st Team All-Conference her freshman, sophomore and junior years. She was also named 2nd Team All-State as a junior.
