ECC softball finishes long weekend

The Ellsworth Community College softball team had another packed weekend of games. The Panthers ended the hard fought weekend with one win and five loses.

ECC started off with a double header against DMACC. The Panthers lost the first game 0-8 in 5 innings, and lost the second game by a narrower margin of 4-8. The Panthers hit well in the second match, tallying 10 hits including a home run from Kiara Harvey along with RBIs for Kelly Sykes, Alissa Denn and two for Harvey.

Play continued on Saturday with ECC taking on Marshalltown Community College. The Panthers took home a hard fought win during the first game with a 6-5 victory. Harvey hit a solo home run to put ECC up 5-4 in the 6th inning. Sykes contributed an RBI double hitting Burgundy Oelmann in to get the score to 6-4. MCC came out on top in the second game, going five innings with a 12-2 win over the Panthers.

ECC closed out the weekend on Sunday, with losses to Kirkwood by a close 2-1 margin (in extra innings) in the first game and 7-4 in the second game.

The Panthers are schedule to be on the road again for their next game Wednesday, April 2, at Iowa Central in Fort Dodge. Game time is 3:00 pm.
