There was never any doubt for a highly rated Ellsworth Community College squad on Saturday.
On the road at eighth-place Southwestern Community College, the 10th-ranked Panthers easily recorded their fourth win in a row by a 98-58 final.
The visitors built a 20-point advantage at the half, on top 47-27. The difference continued to grow in the second half for the 40-point victory.
ECC (12-2, 3-1) shot lights out, hitting at a 51.4 percent clip and drained seven three-pointers in the win. Most of the damage was done by two players – Taevean Famutimi-Brown and Rollings Kamanda. Famutimi-Brown was eight of 10 from the floor and 6-9 from the free throw line to lead all scoring with 23 points. He also led with five assists. The 6'11" Kamanda is currently tops in the nation in field goal percentage and he was a perfect eight for eight against the Spartans (5-8, 1-3). Not one of the best free throw shooters on the team, he had his best night at the line going five of six and finishing with 21 points. Kamanda also nabbed 13 rebounds for the double-double.
Along with the Panther defense holding the hosts to a 37.5 percent shooting night and getting 18 turnovers – they clashed the glass. ECC doubled SWCC's rebounding output with 61 to the hosts 30.
