SCC Pulls Away From ECC in Final Half

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth hung with visiting Southeastern CC for 20 minutes in Saturday's ICCAC matchup at Dittmer Gymnasium.  But the BlackHawks pulled away from a 32-29 halftime advantage for an 83-56 win to complete a season sweep.

The Panthers had dropped a five-point decision in West Burlington Jan. 30, but this time SCC outscored the hosts, 51-27, in the final period.

Southeastern did a pretty good job on ECC's Adam Jackson, holding the sophomore guard to 15 points, about 10 below his season average.  Jackson was the lone Panther in double figures.  Julian Landor scored eight points and Junior Bodden snared eight rebounds.

Ellsworth had one of its coldest shooting games of the year, making only 34 percent of its shots from the field and just 28 percent from behind the arc.  The Panthers did have a season-best 15 assists with Jackson and Srdjan Kopunovic each handing out four.

It will be a tough week for Ellsworth with three games in a five-day span.  They are scheduled to play at Marshalltown CC Tuesday night with the Tigers expected to resume play after a pause, and then home contests with Northeast (Neb.) Thursday and Iowa Western Saturday.
