Panthers Fall at Home

Iowa Falls, Iowa -- The Ellsworth men's basketball team couldn't come all the way back from a double-digit halftime deficit and the Panthers fell to Marshalltown CC, 67-62, at Dittmer Gymnasium Wednesday night.  It was the third consecutive loss of five or fewer points for the Panthers and the second game in a row they lost by the same 67-62 score.  They also dropped a two-pointer at home to Iowa Central.

In this contest, Marshalltown took a 43-32 lead at the break.  The ECC defense then limited the Tigers to 24 second-half points, but the Panthers couldn't make up the entire deficit, despite holding MCC to 37 percent shooting for the game.

ECC received a strong performance from VJ Wilmington, who led the scoring with a season-high 21 points that included four 3-pointers.  Adam Jackson poured in 16 and also collected nine rebounds and four assists.  Julian Landor supplied 13 points off the bench to go along with six rebounds and two blocks.  The trio of Wilmington, Jackson and Landor combined for all 10 of ECC's made threes.

The Panthers head to DMACC on Saturday to battle the Bears in a 3:00 start in Boone.
