ECC men’s basketball 1-1 at NIACC Tournament

The Ellsworth Community College men's basketball team opened up regular season play this weekend at the Konigsmark Klassic at NIACC, going 1-1 for the weekend.

The Panthers took on Bay College on Friday, Nov. 2 taking an 80-60 win. ECC was down 39-36 going into halftime after a last second shot by Bay College. ECC would outscore Bay College 44-21 in the second half to get the win.

LJ Harris led the way for the Panthers scoring 25 points. Tate Muilenburg (13), Jamal Antoine (12), and Devontae Sims (11) all scored in double figures as well for ECC. Antoine also led the team in assists with 8 and Muilenburg led in rebounds with 10.

ECC took a 67-74 loss to Dakota County Technical College on Saturday, Nov. 3 to finish the tournament. The Panthers started the game slow, being outscored 28-40 in the first half. ECC did take the lead with minutes left in the game but couldn't hold on to it and had to take the loss. 

Harris led the Panthers in scoring with 15 points followed closely by Antoine who scored 14. Sims led the Panthers in rebounding with 9 followed by Muilenburg with 8.

The Panthers will be on the road for their next game Tuesday, Nov. 6 as they travel to take on North Central Missouri College at 7 pm. ECC will then host the Dale Howard Classic with games against Rochester Community and Technical College on Friday, Nov. 9 at 8 pm and Marshalltown Community College on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 5 pm.
