Panthers break into rankings

The Ellsworth Community College Panthers have broken into the NJCAA rankings in both men's basketball and football.

ECC Football ended the 2015 season on a high note with a Graphic Edge Bowl win over Globe Technical Institute (32-19); as a result, the Panthers are now ranked #18 nationally. Quarterback JuJuan Young-Battle is currently fifth in the nation for yards per game (283.5). Other stat leaders noted by NJCAA include Xavier Washpun, #15 for average rushes (96.6); Jerry Jones, #15 in receiving (81.1 per game); and Johnathan Boone, #20 for receiving (77.4). On the defensive side, Ryan Guthrie is ranked #5 for total tackles (127).

The Panthers averaged 33.9 points per game, 466.8 yards per game, 290.7 passing yards per game, and had 16 defensive interceptions.

The ECC men's basketball has also broken into the NJCAA top 20 rankings. The Panthers are currently 8-2 on the season.

Myzeah Batie-Gaddy is currently #12 in the nation for average points per game (22.7), and he's ranked #5 in NJCAA DII standings for points this season (250).

The Panthers are averaging 82.4 points per game, shooting 45.3% field goal percent, averaging 7.7 3-pointers per game, and holding opponents to an average of 37.2 points per game.
