ECC men's basketball falls to Marshalltown

The Ellsworth Community College men's basketball team fell to Marshalltown Community College 82-78 in a close match up on Nov. 24, just prior to Thanksgiving break.

The Panthers played the DI Tigers basket for basket in the first half, going into halftime tied at 39. The game was highlighted by its physical, fast-paced action and hard-fought battles at all positions. The Panthers fell into a tough situation the first 7 minutes of the second half, allowing Marshalltown to go on an 18-0 run. Trey Christopher ended the streak by hitting a three, then the Panthers fought back by chipping away at Marshalltown's lead and eventually tying it back up at 75-75 with 2 minutes on the clock.

Getting back to his strong consistent play, Myzeah Batie-Gaddy tallied 27 points and 12 rebounds. Keith Leavy is asserting himself more each week; he contributed 15 points and 5 rebounds. Christopher came in and sparked the Panthers' comeback in the second half; for the night, he tallied 17 points and 3 assists.

The Panthers will host Dakota County Technical College on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 pm and then will be on the road for the next four games before taking a break for the Christmas holiday.
