Former Panther named Basketball MVP

Former Ellsworth Community College basketball player Tony Lewis (2008-09) was recently named MVP of the Professional Basketball League in Australia. During his two years at ECC, Lewis received All-American, All-Region and All-Tournament Team honors.

After graduating from Ellsworth in 2009 Lewis transferred to Illinois State University, where he averaged 7.1 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game during his senior year. He then played for a short time in an Illinois state basketball league before signing with the Dandenong Rangers, part of the Southeast Australian Basketball League, where he has been a member of the team the last two seasons.  

Lewis was selected for the SEABL All-Star Team this season along with receiving his MVP award. He averaged 23 points per game and 11 rebounds per game this season, and was 6th in the league for points and 2nd in the league for rebounds.
