Panthers fall at home

Hutchinson Community College wasn't the only opponent the Ellsworth Community College football team had to deal with this past Saturday. The muddy field and constant rain were another factor in the Panthers' 25-13 loss last weekend.

ECC had one touchdown in the first half by Drew Greenhaw, who grabbed a 55-yard pass from Paris Chambers. The Panthers went into the half down 18-7. Ellsworth scored the first and only touchdown of the third quarter with a 2-yard run by Tekendrick Roberson, taking the score to 18-13. Hutchinson proved to be too strong for the Panthers when they scored a final touchdown in the fourth to take the game to a 25-13 final score.

Chambers was leading rusher for ECC with 86 yards. Greenhaw was leading receiver with 90 yards and one touchdown.

The Panther defense was led by Demetrius Caddell with 9 total tackles followed by Keonte Schad who had 7 tackles. Isaiah Childs had 2 sacks and Nik Ricks had 1 sack. Sam Gerst had 9 total tackles including 1 tackle for loss. Josh Belle had 4 tackles and an interception. Belle has 4 interceptions on the year. Naeem Smith had 5.5 tackles with a fumble recovery.

ECC will travel to Fort Scott Community College on Saturday, Oct. 21, for a 1 pm kick-off.
