ECC football awarded All-American honors

Ellsworth Community College celebrates high honors for three individual football players who are being recognized by the NJCAA as All-Americans. Linebacker Ryan Guthrie was named a 1st Team All-American, defensive lineman Louy Compton received 2nd Team All-American honors, and offensive lineman Rob Castaneda received honorable mention.

Guthrie, a sophomore from Forsyth County, GA, is transferring to Syracuse University for the Spring 2017 semester. He had 107 solo tackles this year, 32 assists and 7.5 sacks. Guthrie also had 1 interception and 4 fumble recoveries. He also received 2nd Team All-American honors his freshman year at ECC.

Compton, a sophomore from Waterford, MI, is still deciding on his plans after graduation from ECC this May. He had 13.5 sacks this season, 46 solo tackles and averaged 5 tackles per game. He also had one fumble recovery.

Rob Castaneda, a sophomore from Round Rock, TX, will be transferring to Utah State beginning the Spring 2017 semester.
