The Panthers struggled in the fourth quarter and were denied a win this past Saturday against Coffeyville Community College. ECC was down only three points (24-27) going into the fourth quarter, but the Panthers couldn't find an answer on defense as Coffeyville scored 4 touchdowns in the fourth for a final score of 55-24.

ECC scored midway through the first quarter with a six yard run from quarterback Paris Chambers. The team finished the half with a 42-yard field goal from kicker Justin Wright and a stripped ball by Ryan Guthrie, leaving the Panthers in possession of the ball. The first half ended with the Panthers down 24-10.

ECC came out strong in the third quarter, holding Coffeyville to only three more points and scoring two touchdowns of their own. Chambers ran the ball in for both touchdowns in the third, with a six-yard run and a one-yard run.

The fourth quarter, however, was all Coffeyville, who posted four touchdowns and held the Panthers scoreless. Both teams were plagued by penalties, with Coffeyville having 10 and the Panthers 13.

Chambers, in his first start as quarterback for ECC, threw for 330 yards and ran in all three of the Panthers' touchdowns.

Tekendrick Roberson led the Panthers in rushing with 53 yards, followed by Deryl Bunton who had 43 yards rushing. Marcel Williams led the Panthers in receiving with 137 yards, including kickoff returns for 110 yards and punt returns for 27 yards.

Guthrie again led ECC with tackles; he had 16 total tackles, and 15 of those were solo, 4 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. Guthrie was followed by Javonte Arius, who had 9 solo tackles, 1 tackle for loss and a sack.

The Panthers will be on the road for the next three games. They will play Saturday, Sept. 10, at noon against Iowa Central Community College.
