ECC football players earn All-Conference honors

Sixteen Ellsworth Community College football players were named this week by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) to All-Conference teams, and four additional Panthers received honorable mentions for their efforts on the field this season.

First Team All-Conference honors went to sophomore right tackle David Goldsby of St. Louis, MO; sophomore wide receiver Jaleel Scott of Rock Hills, SC; sophomore wide receiver Jerry Jones of Belle Glade, FL; freshman wide receiver Johnathan Boone of Orlando, FL; sophomore quarterback Jujuan Young-Battle of Orlando, FL; sophomore running back Xavier Washpun of Iowa City, IA; sophomore free safety KeAaris Ardley of Starke, FL and freshman line backer Ryan Guthrie of Forsyth County, GA.

Young-Battle was in the top ten in the nation in several categories including 2nd in completions (227), 3rd in passing yards (3,059) and 6th in touchdowns (25). Washpun totaled 871 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns for the season. He averaged 96.8 yards per game ranking him 14th best in the NJCAA. Guthrie averaged 10.3 tackles per game and finished 3rd in the nation with 85 solo tackles. Ardley intercepted four passes on the year putting him at 15th in the nation. He returned one of the interceptions for a touchdown. He also recorded 6.5 tackles per game.

Second Team All-Conference honors went to sophomore left tackle Cedric McCoy of Palatka, FL; sophomore left guard DJ Loving of East St. Louis, IL; sophomore strong safety Alex Caldwell of Clinton, IA; sophomore linebacker Brandon McCracken of Parkersburg, IA; sophomore corner back Devin Brockington of Daytona Beach, FL; freshman defensive end Louy Compton of Waterford, MI; sophomore linebacker Royce Peterson of Iowa City, IA and sophomore defensive tackle/defensive end Tyler Chaudoin of Oviedo, FL.

Honorable mentions were earned by sophomore running back Dustin Caldwell of Clinton, IA; sophomore right guard Pedro Gomez of Marshalltown, IA; sophomore corner back Dontrell Johnson of Pahokee, FL and sophomore return specialist Joe DiTomaso of Bondurant, IA.
