Panther cheerleaders in the making

Saturday, Sept. 8 the Ellsworth Community College Cheerleaders held a "Go Gold" Panther Youth Cheer Clinic with ten participants.

Participants included students in grades K-5th grades, who learned two sideline cheers and a dance routine with jumps and tumbling taught by ECC cheerleaders. The clinic was held from 10 am - noon at Dale Howard Facility. They also played teambuilding games and were visited by Pounce the ECC mascot. Each participant received an ECC Cheer Clinic tshirt and gold awareness cheer bow with their registration fee.

They performed with ECC Cheerleaders during halftime of the Sept. 8 home football game and will receive information about future events as part of our ECC CheerCubs program. The ECC CheerCubs program is in early stages of planning but more information will be available soon.

ECC Cheer will also donate 10% of funds raised from the clinic to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital as part of the Go Gold September Awareness Month for Pediatric Cancer. Our chant and tshirt theme was "Go Gold, Fight Like A Panther."

"It was a great event to kickoff our season, build relationships with children in our community, raising awareness for a cause and having fun too," commented ECC Head Cheer Coach Katie Reed. "The CheerCubs are always a crowd favorite at halftime. We hope to have more clinic participants in the future as we grow the program."
